Government is in a strict stance on mobile internet packages
The mobile operators have no way to go back to the pre-October 14 price of mobile internet or shifting the 3-day package to 7 days. Since BTRC is in a strict position in this regard.
Although, the mobile operators did not participate in the meeting on Sunday, called by the BTRC lead by the Posts and Telecommunications Minister. But they had to be disappointed as Lt. Col. Mohammad Zulfikar (Retd), Secretary General of Mobile Operators' Association AMTOB could not manage to get a schedule to meet with the BTRC Chairman on Monday.
The CEOs of the mobile phone operators wanted to meet the chairman of BTRC regarding the directive to reduce the price of data packages. According to sources, BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder is not willing to discuss any directives to reduce internet prices without implementation. So he refused the offer.
Meanwhile, the CEOs of the three private mobile operators Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink have proposed to discuss the implementation of the new directive, but the state owned operator has already started the work of restructuring the Teletalk package.
